Techno Tuesday: The Mars-One Mission

What is the world gonna be like in 10 years? 20 years?

The real question should be what is the universe gonna be like in 10 years? Because in 10 years, the first group of humans will be flying off to Mars! The last time humans walked on the moon was 1972.

This is a huge step in science and technology, never in history has this even thought to be possible till now.

The training for this mission is eight years though, so get ready to work your ass off for it if you decide to go :p

Music Monday: Thrift Shop

…Wat wat wat wat… i said wat wat wat wat?

Thrift Shop album cover.

This jam is the shit! Its wicked and sick, if you’re anything like me you LOVE comedy rap, i thought kanye was king of comedy rap, huh! He aint got nothin on Machlemore (sorry kanyeezy). Poking fun at the expanding number of people with a discount-fancy-dress-chic approach to fashion, he raps: “Draped in a leopard mink, girls standing next to me/ Probably should have washed this/ Smells like R Kelly‘s sheets,” over a sax hook that quickly lodges itself in the brain. The result is a rare beast of a song – original, musically daring and genuinely funny.

This nigga must be high on thrift shopping when he wrote this! #forreal I easily get bored of music, when I tell you that i’ve been playing the song on-repeat for 2 days, its says how much you will love it too!

Fun Friday: Diana F+ [Dreamer Edition] Review

Recently i got the Diana F+ camera as a gift and just had time to try it out! It’s not a professional camera, it’s actually uses film which is kind of cool, gives it a vintage touch!

It’s fun taking pictures with it, because it’s not really that complicated, you have a few options but other than that its just a click and you’re done! I developed my first roll and my pictures weren’t that great though, which I’ll provide below so I got a lot of learning to do!

One of the main reasons why I like this camera is because it’s not complicated. I wouldn’t call myself a photographer but rather an artistic person because I go between writing, drawing and taking photographers so it really suits me. I don’t need a fancy $3000 camera and all those lenses.

Overall I would give this camera a 10 clouds out of 10 clouds! I’m really enjoying this camera and would suggest it to any beginner.

Here are some of the photos I took:

Thoughtful Thursday: Parents vs. Celebrities

Did you ever see your parents as celebrities? The media is a doorway in which celebrities can easily influence people. Celebrities and parents are much a like in the way they influence us to act, the way we live our life, and the way we plan our future.

Both celebrities and parents play a major role in inspiring us. Parental talks are like celebrity public speeches and songs. Just like parents demonstrate the importance of drive and work ethic, so do singers and actors. We might not notice it but most of our decision making is influenced by them, they teach us by example how to make the right decisions by learning from their mistakes. Being better citizens and influencing our future plans is proof. Keep in mind not all celebrities and parents are positive influences, but lets look at the bright side ;p cuz that’s how we dreamers role.

Terms like idols and actions like worshiping were made for parents and celebs, We are our parents legacies, and our celebrity’s pride. We could have never seen the similarities between parents and celebrities in this way, regardless of their social rank in society, regardless of what the numbers say, at the end of the day they share the same job, which is to inspire and drive.

If I were you, next time is see my mom or dad, I would ask for their autograph.

Wholesome Wednesday: My first time experience with a detox [UPDATE]

I posted earlier today about my first time experience with a detox and I talked a little about the protein shakes I drink. I mentioned that it contains green tea and a reader sent me a question regarding what company it’s from.

Here is a picture:

With the addition of green tea extract, it also contains Micellar Casein, CLA, and L-Carnitine. Here is the full list of the benefits:

One of casein’s key attributes is that it is digested slowly. In digestion, when a protein hits the stomach, it starts hydrolyzing the bonds of the amino acids in the polypeptide chain of the protein.  Casein slows that down by causing the curdling, where the protein folds up on itself, so the amino acids come off more slowly. research shows that taking casein before, during and after exercise — or anytime, really — effectively supports muscle protein synthesis and also boosts endurance and strength gains.

CLA increases lean body mass while reducing overall body fat mass. The improved muscle to fat ratio is believed to stem from improved insulin sensitivity. Improved insulin sensitivity allows fatty acids and glucose to easily move toward muscle cells and away from fat issues, resulting in an increase of total energy in fat and muscle tissue. The increase of total energy in the cells enhances fat metabolism in muscle and fat cells leading to reduced body fat and increased muscle.

and lastly Carnitine is a potent fat burner because it is responsible for the transport of fats into the cells to be used for energy in the body. By raising the level of muscle carnitine, you support the fat burning process, and because your body becomes more efficient at processing fuel, it will increase your energy levels. Elevating carnitine will also improve physical performance by burning more fat, sparing glycogen, clearing muscle lactate, and increasing anabolic hormone response.

Wholesome Wednesday: My first time experience with a detox

First of all, I’d like to point out detoxes were never intended for weight loss, as people think. The weight you lose mostly is water. The point of a detox is to restart your metabolism, and if you haven’t been eating that well!

Okay let’s get to it, a detox is mostly a cleanse to your body, it helps flush out all your toxins and anything that’s been stuck in there for a while that shouldn’t be there! I’ve never tried them until now. I started a two-day cleanse yesterday and it’s not easy. At all! My detox revolved around juice and water for 48 hours but i added protein shakes in between (mine includes green tea and over beneficial ingredients). Its hard not eating any of your meals, that’s why i decided to do the two-day one, instead of a week or 5 days.

I did what’s called the lemon cleanse detox so my juice consisted of lemon, cranberry, cayenne pepper and vitamin B. This is the one I actually used:

Would i recommend this? Yes for the right reasons! I would call myself a relatively healthy person but this week hasn’t been that great so i decided to do it! I would also recommend it if you’re planning on dieting, this is a great way to fire up your metabolism and get in the right place as you’re about to start your diet!

The best thing that comes out of detoxes is the feeling after it. You feel amazing! If any of you do try this or any other cleanse, let us know in the comments!

Did you know that YOLO and several other slang words are banned in Lake Superior State University. Words and phrases like BucketList, Boneless wings, and guru. WTH? You must be thinking, back at you dreamer. They say even “trending” is banished, i hope they see this post cuz it surely is trending. Getting rid of a few tired old words and phrases Lake Superior State University compiled its annual “List of Words Banished from the Queen’s English for Mis-Use, Over-Use and General Uselessness” for 2013. The list, which was first launched in 1976, accepts nominations for banned words year-round.

Check out the list, below, followed by select comments from nominators:

  • fiscal cliff - “Makes me want to throw someone over a real cliff”
  • kick the can down the road - “I would definitely like to kick some cans of the human variety every time I hear politicians use this phrase to describe a circumstance that hasn’t gone their way.”

    The Banished (Photo credit: ellebnere)

presidential campaign. Apparently ‘lowering unemployment’ doesn’t have the same impact.”

  • passion/passionate - “Diabetes is not just Big Pharma‘s business, it’s their passion! This or that actor is passionate! about some issue somewhere. A DC lobbyist is passionate! about passing (or blocking) some proposed law. My passion! is simple: Banish this phony-baloney word.”
  • YOLO (You Only Live Once) - “Just gives people, especially teens, a reason to do stupid things.”
  • spoiler alert - “Used as an obnoxious way to show one has trivial information and is about to use it, no matter what.”
  • bucket list - “Getting this phrase on the Banished Word List is on my bucket list!”
  • trending - “I’m sick of chirpy entertainment commentators constantly informing us of what ‘is trending right now.’ I used to like a good trend until this.”
  • superfood - “It’s food. It’s either healthful or it’s not. There is no ‘super’ involved.”
  • boneless wings - “Can we just call them chicken (pieces)?”
  • guru - “Unless you’re teaching transcendental meditation, Hinduism or Buddhism, please don’t call yourself a guru just because you think you’re an expert at something. It’s silly and pretentious. Let other people call you that, if they must.”
